The National Weather Service confirmed three more tornadoes during the Aug. 11 storms in central Ohio, including a tornado that flipped a vehicle on Interstate 71.
Previously, the weather service confirmed two EF1 tornadoes in central Ohio from the storms. One touched down in south Columbus, and one was in Madison County near Choctaw Lake.
The weather service has now confirmed 10 tornadoes in Ohio during the morning storms and seven in the afternoon.
EF0 tornado touched down in Upper Arlington, flipped vehicle
An EF0 tornado touched down at 10:05 a.m. in Upper Arlington near Kenny Road, crossing State Route 315 and then moving east down Ackerman Road, according to the weather service.
The tornado crossed the Olentangy River, damaging a few businesses along North High Street before following Glen Echo Creek
eastward.
On I-71 near the Weber Road exit, Ohio Department of Transportation video showed the tornado flipping a vehicle, the weather service said.
The tornado likely dissipated at 10:08 a.m. near Beulah Road and East Weber Road, where surveyors observed some straight-line wind damage to the east, the weather service said.
The tornado traveled 2.7 miles, and its path was as wide as 150 yards, the weather service said.
EF1 tornado touched down near Olde Towne East
An EF1 tornado touched down near Olde Towne East, east of downtown Columbus, at 10:08 a.m., the weather service said. It damaged trees and buildings on Oak Street near South 18th Street and between Fair Avenue and Oak Street.
The most significant damage happened between South Ohio Avenue and South Champion Avenue, where a brick apartment building lost a section of its roof and top floor walls, the weather service said.
More trees and buildings were damaged along Fair Avenue, and there was widespread tree damage along Franklin Park South. The tornado gradually weakened before reaching South Nelson Road. Some straight line wind damage continued to the east.
The tornado dissipated at 10:10 a.m., the weather service said. Its peak winds were 90 mph, and it left a path 1.3 miles long and as wide as 150 yards.
EF0 tornado touched down southeast of Plain City in Madison County
At 9:51 a.m., an EF0 tornado touched down southeast of Plain City near Georgesville Road in Madison County, the weather service said.
The short-lived tornado damaged trees along Big Darby Creek as it moved southeast. It also damaged outbuildings along Amity Pike, the weather service said.
The tornado damaged crops in fields north of Amity Pike but not south of the road, so it likely dissipated there at 9:53 a.m., the weather service said.
The tornado traveled 1.21 miles with a path 100 yards wide, the weather service said. It maximum winds were 80 mph.
