The Ohio high school boys golf regular season has concluded. That means it’s time to determine the top Columbus-area player for the regular season by voting for your choice.
The 12 candidates are below,
in alphabetical order. After reading their bios, scroll down to the ballot and cast your vote.
Voting will conclude at noon Oct. 6. Please do not email your votes; they will not count.
Candidates were chosen with guidance from area coaches. Postseason and non-OHSAA accomplishments are not included.
In addition, keep an eye out for the annual All-Metro teams for fall sports in November.
Christian Avoli, Bexley: The senior led the Lions to the Central Buckeye League title, earning Player of the Year with a 74 average. Avoli, who had an overall average of 73.4, was a medalist twice and co-medalist twice during the regular season. He recorded four top-five finishes.
Brady Barnum, Dublin Jerome: The senior finished the regular season with a 68.88 average and 69.33 average in league play, earning honorable mention all-OCC-Cardinal after competing in three of four rounds because of AJGA obligations. The Georgia commit won eight regular-season events.
Mitchell Corbin, Olentangy Liberty: The senior helped lead the Patriots in OCC-Central play, finishing with a 74.55 average to earn first-team all-league. Corbin, who had an overall average of 73.62, was a co-medalist at the OCC-Cardinal event at Apple Valley (70), sharing the honor with Upper Arlington brothers Max and Rocco Humphreys.
Jackson Gieseler, Licking Valley: The senior led the Panthers in LCL-Buckeye play, earning Player of the Year honors (74.5 average) for the second consecutive season. Gieseler, who had a regular-season average of 73.6, shot a program-record 66 in winning the Utica Invitational at Links at Echo Springs. He was co-medalist at the LCL-Buckeye event at Virtues.
Elijah Hall-Bromberg, New Albany: The sophomore led the Eagles to the OCC-Ohio title, earning Player of the Year honors with a 70.75 average. He had an overall average of 72.85 and was a medalist twice.
Max Humphreys, Upper Arlington: The freshman was first-team all-OCC-Central with a 74.75 average. Humphreys had an overall average of 72.8 and won three events as part of six top-five finishes.
Rocco Humphreys, Upper Arlington: The senior played a major role in the Golden Bears’ second consecutive OCC-Central title, earning Player of the Year honors with a 71.25 average. The Dayton commit had an overall average of 72.4 and was a medalist twice with eight top-five finishes.
Deacon Kroeger, Teays Valley: The sophomore earned OCC-Buckeye Player of the Year honors for the second straight season (68.5), helping the Vikings capture a third consecutive league title. Kroeger had an overall average of 72.4 and was a medalist six times this season.
Clark McGeorge, Westerville North: The senior was OCC-Capital Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, finishing with a 70.25 average. The Tennessee Tech commit had an overall average of 70.1 and was a medalist three times.
Evan Menges, Dublin Jerome: The senior helped the Celtics win their 19th consecutive league title, earning OCC-Cardinal Player of the Year honors with a 71.75 average. Menges, who had a 72.88 overall average, was the medalist at the OCC-Cardinal event (69) at Darby Creek.
Will Taylor, Johnstown: The senior earned LCL-Cardinal Player of the Year honors, finishing with a 76 average. Taylor, who had an overall average of 75.58, won one tournament and had two runner-up finishes as part of six top-five finishes.
Gavin Troiano, Worthington Kilbourne: The senior helped power the Wolves to their fifth consecutive OCC-Capital title, earning first-team all-league with a 72 average. He had an overall average of 75 and was a co-medalist (71) at the league event at Apple Valley.
