Jon Husted picks up burger chain endorsement in 2026 Ohio Senate race

With election day looming, Sen. Jon Husted, R-Ohio, got an endorsement from one of America's favorite fast-food burger chains as he and Sherrod Brown battle for the Senate seat in a closely-contested race.

On X, Steak 'n Shake shared a post endorsing Jon Husted for U.S. senator. The company said they stand with Husted because he supports the "Make America Healthy Again (MAHA)" movement, which aims to "reform America’s food, health, and scientific systems to identify the root causes of the chronic disease epidemic," according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services website.

Additionally, Steak 'n Shake also slammed his democratic opponent Sherrod Brown, stating that he "has a record

of supporting the extreme federal spending that fueled the inflation crisis, driving up grocery prices for every Ohio family."

Jon Husted vs. Sherrod Brown a tight race, Fox News poll finds

An August 2026 poll shows a close race for Ohio's senate seat leading up to Election Day.

Former Democratic U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown led Republican Sen. Jon Husted 53% to 45% at the time of the Fox News poll of Ohio voters. The survey found that rising costs remain a top concern for voters. It also found that more Ohioans worry about Husted's ties to President Donald Trump than Brown's ties to the Democratic Party.

According to Fox News, 87% of Republicans favored Husted at the time, while 97% of Democrats back Brown. The Democratic candidate also saw 11% crossover support from Republicans overall and 25% among non-MAGA Republicans. Two-thirds of independents also favor Brown, according to the publication.

Inflation remains voters' top issue, with 40% naming it as their biggest concern. The share of Ohioans who say their family is "falling behind" financially rose from 28% in 2020 to 38%. Those voters favor Brown by 40 percentage points.
