During the first home football game at Ohio State this season, the Buckeyes men’s basketball team will host two prospects on official visits.
When OSU hosts Ball State on Sept. 5 at Ohio Stadium, coach Jake Diebler will bring two players from the class of 2027 along for the experience.
It’s still unclear how many players Ohio State might sign for its 2027 class. The Buckeyes had a commitment from five-star guard LJ Smith, but he graduated early and is getting his freshman season started with the Buckeyes. Of the 15 players currently on Ohio State’s roster, the only one known to be out of eligibility after this season is fifth-year guard Jimmie Williams.
Otherwise, all 14 other players would have the ability to still be on the roster for 2027-28.
Granted, that scenario is highly unlikely in the era of name, image and likeness rights, but it does decrease the likelihood of Ohio State signing a big 2027 class.
Here are the two prospects Ohio State will be hosting on official visits during the weekend of Aug. 4-6.
Jaxson Davis
Listed at 6-foot, 165 pounds, Davis is a four-star point guard originally from Chicago who will play his senior season at Kansas City (Kansas) Monarch Academy. He is the No. 41 national prospect in the 247Sports.com composite, the No. 9 point guard in the country and the No. 1 player in Kansas.
This is expected to be the first of four visits for Davis. He is scheduled to go to Minnesota on Sept. 11, Iowa on Sept. 19 and Michigan State on Oct. 1.
Deng Ngor
The 6-8, 200-pound power forward has made a significant rise in the 247Sports recruiting rankings this summer. Ngor was listed as the No. 150 national prospect until late August, and when the rankings refreshed, he was up to No. 55.
A senior at Fort Erie (Ontario) International Academy, Ngor also has planned visits to see Washington on Sept. 18, Florida on Sept. 22 and Duke on Oct. 15.
