A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle early morning on Sept. 5 on Columbus' Southeast Side during heavy rain, according to a media release from Columbus police.
Columbus police responded around 6:59 a.m. Sept. 5 to Gender Road near Nottinghill Drive after receiving a report that an adult pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.
The driver told police they were traveling south on Gender Road before daylight during a heavy rainstorm when they struck something. The driver initially did not realize they had hit a pedestrian, according to the release.
The pedestrian was taken to a hospital by medics and died a short time later. Police have not released the pedestrian's name, age or gender. The driver also was not identified in the release.
The Columbus police Accident Investigation Unit responded to the scene and is investigating the crash.
