An overturned natural gas dump truck on U.S. 23 spilled gas and shut down the roadway in both directions on Sept. 1 in southern Franklin County.
The Franklin County Sheriff's Office said at about 8:45 a.m. both northbound and southbound U.S. 23 were shut down, and all traffic was being diverted to Interstate 270. In a post on Facebook, the sheriff's office said a hybrid natural gas dump truck had overturned on its side and was leaking gas.
The crash happened just south of the I-270 interchange, and the roadway remained closed as of 9:45 a.m., according to a live traffic map maintained by the Ohio Department of Transportation. The ramp from I-270 west to U.S. 23 was also closed.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and the driver of the truck
was not injured, the sheriff's office said in the Facebook post.
Sheriff's office spokesperson Maria Durant said the leak was "minor" and does not pose a threat to the public. She had no details about how the crash happened and said it was not clear when the roadway would reopen.
