A child is dead after being found floating in a pond on Columbus' Northwest Side, according to police.
Columbus police responded at around 2:42 p.m. July 29 on a report of a toddler floating in a pond near the 2300 block of Sebago Lane, according to Sgt. James Fuqua.
The toddler was transported in critical condition to Nationwide Children's Hospital, where they were pronounced dead, at 3:43 p.m., according to a Columbus police dispatcher.
Fuqua said he is unsure how the child ended up in the pond. The child may have possibly been missing, but Fuqua was unable to confirm that.
He was also unable to confirm the child's age but said they were a toddler.
Additional information was not immediately available.
