The Crew kept swinging a sledgehammer at their roster until the end of the summer transfer window, acquiring left wing Anass Zaroury from Panathinaikos of the Greece Super League late Sept. 2 on a loan agreement with an option to buy.
Zaroury, 25, is a Moroccan from Belgium who's played professionally in Belgium, England, France and Greece. The Crew announced his addition on Sept. 3, but reports first surfaced online Sept. 2, as the clock ticked down to MLS's 11:59 p.m. ET transfer window deadline.
Zaroury joined Uruguayan midfield star Santiago Rodriguez as late additions in a busy transfer window for Crew GM Issa Tall, who reworked his roster with nine additions and eight
exits. Zaroury started 16 of 29 games for Panathinaikos this season, scoring four goals with two assists.
The Crew have lost their past five games across all competitions, including their last four in MLS. They can end the streak against the Colorado Rapids on Sept. 5 at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field.
