A WCPO-TV (Channel 9) reporter has left the station.
Marlena Lang has departed WCPO-TV after more than two years at the station, she announced on social media Sept. 16. Her final broadcast aired Wednesday.
"I’m not going to lie, this was a hard decision to make," Lang wrote. "I have absolutely loved my time here at Channel 9! Every person I’ve met through this incredible (and really dream) job has made me absolutely fall in love with Cincinnati."
Lang has not revealed her next career move. However, she did state that she is leaving the news industry because the work has taken a toll on her mental and physical health, and added that she plans to remain in the Cincinnati area.
"Since I was a freshman in high school I’ve wanted to be a journalist,
and I’m so lucky to have lived out that dream the last 4 years," Lang continued. "I’m not saying I’ll never be back, but for now it’s time for a change."
According to her WCPO bio and LinkedIn profile, Lang is a native of Kauai, Hawaii, and a graduate of Biola University in La Mirada, California.
Before joining WCPO in July 2024, Lang worked at WICS-TV (Channel 20) and WICD-TV (Channel 15) in Champaign, Illinois, and at KHQA-TV (Channel 7) in Quincy, Illinois.
Lang's departure comes a week after E.W. Scripps announced a companywide leadership restructuring. Under the plan, WCPO Vice President and General Manager Jeff Brogan was among 27 managers eliminated from local market and sales leadership roles.
Scripps President and CEO Adam Symson said the restructuring is part of the company's "proactive transformation plan" to "align its local television operations with the way audiences watch, discover and rely on news today."
