MASON − There are four Saturday semifinal spots still up for grabs at the Cincinnati Open. Those will be filled as quarterfinal action wraps up at the Lindner Family Tennis Center on Friday, Aug. 21.
An American man has not won the Cincinnati Open in 20 years.All three remaining Americans from the ATP tour will play on Friday in the quarterfinals. At least one will advance to the Cincinnati Open semifinals when No. 6 seed Taylor Fritz and No. 27 seed Brandon Nakashima battle on Center Court during the day session.
At night, Frances Tiafoe will face Lorenzo Musetti of Italy.
Cincinnati Open giant killer
On the WTA side, reigning Cincinnati Open champion Iga Swiatek advanced to the semifinals via walkover on Thursday. She's joined in the semifinals by Jessica Pegula, who defeated Amanda Anisimova.
Two other former Cincinnati Open champions will try to reach the semifinals on Friday. Madison Keys, who won it all in 2019, will face Sara Bejlek in the afternoon. Coco Gauff (2023 winner) ends the night session on Center Court against Marta Kostyuk.
