Cincinnati's busy weekend event calendar could mean traffic delays for people heading Downtown in the coming days.
Major events this weekend include Chris Stapleton's Paycor Stadium concert, the final weekend of Glier's Goettafest, Ohio River Paddlefest, a three-game Reds-Pirates series and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.'s 85th Grand Conclave.
With thousands of visitors expected and construction continuing on the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor project, motorists may encounter delays in Cincinnati and Covington as several streets and exit ramps will be closed.
To help drivers navigate the closures, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has recommended several alternate routes.
Tips for navigating road closures amid Brent Spence Bridge Corridor project
Drivers traveling south on Interstate 75 in Ohio can use the Freeman Avenue,
Seventh Street and Fifth Street exits to reach Downtown. Drivers continuing south across the Brent Spence Bridge into Covington can use the Fifth Street/Crescent Avenue or Pike Street/12th Street/Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard exits.
For drivers traveling north on Interstate 75 in Kentucky, the Transportation Cabinet says the Fifth Street exit in Covington is the "best option." Motorists continuing north across the Brent Spence Bridge into Cincinnati should use the Fifth Street exit or the U.S. 50/West Sixth Street and Linn Street exits.
When traveling east on U.S. Route 50 and West Sixth Street, drivers should take Freeman Avenue to Mehring Way or Fifth Street to reach downtown Cincinnati, per the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor website.
The Transportation Cabinet also recommends using routes east of the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor, including Interstate 71 southbound from northern Cincinnati suburbs and Interstates 275 and 471 in Northern Kentucky.
