Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth suffered an apparent injury during the second quarter of the team's NFL Week 3 game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Acrisure Stadium.
Freiermuth got his arm tangled up with Bengals defensive back Tacario Davis as quarterback Aaron Rodgers was sacked by defensive end Myles Murphy. Davis was penalized for defensive holding.
"That is just a massive, massive penalty," CBS analyst Ross Tucker said during the broadcast. "I think he was okay with the contact within the first five yards but just that last physical contact there is what caused the penalty."
Freiermuth, who entered the game as the Steelers' leading receiver this season, is in his sixth NFL season, all with Pittsburgh. He was a second-round pick
in the 2021 NFL draft.
Freiermuth had five catches for 111 yards with two touchdowns in the Week 7 meeting last season between the teams in Cincinnati.
In 2024, Freiermuth had six catches for 68 receiving yards with a touchdown during Pittsburgh's 44-38 win in Week 13 at Paycor Stadium. He had nine catches for 120 receiving yards during the Steelers' 16-10 win in Cincinnati in November 2023.
