In an interview shared via Twitter/X by Jomboy's @Jolly_Olive, actor Rob Lowe not only confirmed that he's now a much bigger Los Angeles Dodgers fan than Cincinnati Reds fan, but shared pessimism about the Reds' World Series chances, potentially for years to come.
"So I started out my baseball life as a Reds fan," Lowe explained. "I grew up in Dayton, Ohio. It was the era of the Big Red Machine. I saw one of the great teams of all time up close and personal. In those days, the biggest rival was the Dodgers. They hated each other. We moved to California."
"I hated the Dodgers," Lowe continued. "I would go to Dodger Stadium to root against them. And over time, the Dodgers just wore me down. And the Reds got bad. I feel like that gets kind of lost
in the story a little. Oh, the Reds got really bad."
"So historically, I will always love my Reds," Lowe added. "I've lived in California now 45 years."
Lowe was reminded that his brother, Chad, a diehard Reds fan, once said that if the Reds return to the World Series, "you'll be up on the dugout waving our flag if we let him."
"Let me put it this way," Rob Lowe said. "Bob Castellini, I love you. Once the Reds are back in the World Series, they will have to dig up my coffin and put my body on the dugout."
In September 2025, Lowe was seen going crazy on ESPN for a home run by the Dodgers' Tommy Edman off of Reds starter Hunter Greene to give Los Angeles a 5-0 lead in the 3rd inning of Game 1 of their National League wild-card series at Dodger Stadium. Lowe was decked out in Dodger blue and pumping his fist as Edman rounded the bases.
Lowe moved with his family from Dayton to California when he was about 12. He played baseball at Santa Monica High School.
Lowe talked to MLB.com in 2015 about what a huge Reds fan he was growing up.
