Police will be stopping drivers for a drunk driving checkpoint Tuesday night on Cincinnati's east side.
Officers will run the checkpoint in the 400 block of Delta Avenue in Columbia-Tusculum, near the intersection with Columbia Parkway, according to a Hamilton County OVI Task Force news release. The checkpoint will not interfere with Columbia Parkway traffic.
The checkpoint will begin at 6:30 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 11.
Drivers passing through the area will notice an increased police presence and may be pulled over while officers screen for impaired drivers.
The Hamilton County OVI Task Force rotates between different locations for sobriety checkpoints across the county, generally a few times a month.
Cincinnati police last operated a checkpoint
in East Price Hill in June. During that checkpoint, 268 drivers were stopped and only one was diverted for sobriety tests, according to Blue Ash Lt. Dane Baumgartner, coordinator for the Hamilton County OVI Task Force.
That driver was cited for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, not having a driver's license and was issued two other citations, Baumgartner said.
