Three of the Cincinnati area's hospitals received high marks in this year's U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings.
While Cleveland Clinic ranked No. 1 in the state and made the honor roll for the entire country, The Christ Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital and St. Elizabeth Healthcare also stood out as regional high performers.
For the 2026-2027 year, U.S. News evaluated over 800 million records on patient care from almost 4,500 hospitals . They ranked hospitals based on patient outcomes, such as survival and complication rates, as well as patient experience across 14 adult specialties and 23 procedures and conditions.
"High performing" hospitals earned the highest distinction for ratings for the 23 evaluated procedures and conditions.
Hospitals that
demonstrated superior clinical outcomes were named "Best Regional Hospital" − an award that went to 505 hospitals across the country, two of which are located in Cincinnati.
St. Elizabeth was ranked best regional hospital in Kentucky and the Cincinnati metro area. It was rated "high performing" in 21 areas, including cardiac care, certain cancer surgeries, maternal care, diabetes, pneumonia, kidney failure and other procedures and conditions.
The Christ Hospital was ranked the 3rd best regional hospital in Ohio and 2nd in the metro area, with "high performance" ratings in the specialties of rehabilitation and cardiology, heart and vascular surgery. It also performed well across a variety of procedures and conditions, including heart issues and procedures, cancer surgeries and care, strokes, diabetes, kidney failure and more.
"Being recognized as one of Ohio’s top hospitals and earning High Performing ratings across 22 procedures and conditions reflects the extraordinary dedication, expertise and compassion of our entire team," said The Christ Hospital Health Network President and CEO Debbie Hayes, in a released statement.
Good Samaritan Hospital was also well-rated, ranked 10th best regional hospital in Ohio − up two spots from last year − and third best in the Cincinnati area. Good Samaritan's 10 "high performing" areas included select cancer treatments and surgeries, heart failure, stroke, maternity care and ear, nose and throat.
