Two people who tested positive for measles may have exposed others at Cincinnati Children's Hospital's emergency department on Sept. 14 and 15, according to the Cincinnati Health Department.
There are no active measles cases in Cincinnati, officials said, and the health department and the hospital are contacting anyone who may have been exposed.
"These patients were exposed to measles in the state in which they live and have since been discharged from Cincinnati Children’s and returned to their home state," a Sept. 17 statement from the health department said.
There are two windows of time people may have been exposed:
- Monday, Sept. 14, between 5:40 p.m. and 7:48 p.m.
- Between 11:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, and 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
People who were specifically in the emergency department of Cincinnati Children's Hospital at those time and who have not already
spoken with hospital or the health department should call 513-357-7462.
Measles is highly contagious and spreads through the air when people cough, sneeze, talk or breath.
Anyone who believes they are displaying measles symptoms should contact their medical provider immediately, officials said, but should not go to a health care facility without contacting it first for instructions.
