Cincinnati Bengals starting quarterback Joe Burrow took a hard hit to his throwing shoulder during the first half of the Bengals' Week 1 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Paycor Stadium.
Burrow was hit by Bucs linebacker Alex Anzalone as he carried the ball out of bounds. He appeared to get up gingerly and put his hands on his hips as he walked slowly back to the huddle.
Burrow was 25-of-35 passing for 254 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
Burrow is expected to address his limited participation in practice Sept. 16 in remarks to the media ahead of his team's Week 2 game at the Houston Texans.
Burrow was present for practice but didn’t participate in team stretch.

Burrow played in just eight games during the 2025 season after suffering a turf toe injury during a Week 2 win against Jacksonville.
In November 2023, Burrow suffered a season-ending wrist injury during a loss against the Baltimore Ravens.
Burrow suffered a season-ending knee injury in November 2020 on a hit by current Bengals teammate Jonathan Allen against Washington.
