A Sept. 1 shooting near the University of Cincinnati marks the fourth instance of gunfire near the school in two weeks.
Just after 5 p.m., the university issued an alert about an emergency in the 100 block of Shields Street near the College of Medicine on the north end of campus.
Just before 5:30 p.m., university officials said campus police along with Cincinnati police were investigating a shooting.
No information about possible victims or suspects has been released.
After the nearby shootings and reports of gunfire, the University of Cincinnati Police Department announced Aug. 31 that patrols would be increased and that Cincinnati police would be ramping up its presence in the area.
- On Aug. 18, Harry Nelson, 18, was killed and another was injured in a shooting in Clifton at the 3400 block of Brookline Avenue. Kevin Couch, 19, Matthew Napier, 19, and Kayden Moore 18, all face murder and aggravated robbery charges in connection with Nelson's death.
- On Aug. 24, police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Calhoun and South Market streets, according to the UC Public Safety X account.
- On Aug. 30, police responded to reports of shots fired in the same area as the Aug. 24 incident.
