Cincinnati Democratic Rep. Greg Landsman may have an easier path to reelection than previously predicted, according to a new race classification from the Cook Political Report.
Landsman is running against Republican Eric Conroy to represent Ohio's 1st District, which includes Clinton County, Warren County and parts of Hamilton County. The district leans more Republican than in previous elections, after state Republicans redrew the congressional maps.
The Cook Political Report, which assesses the competitiveness of House elections, changed Landsman's race from "leans Democratic" to "likely Democratic" this week.
The move comes after the New York Times reported Republican-allied groups are withdrawing money earmarked to target Landsman. Conroy's
campaign manager Collin Wojcik has maintained that the race is competitive in a statement to The Enquirer.
