Two high schools will be scrambling to move locations for football and soccer games after this week’s severe storms.
Roger Bacon High School announced on Thursday, Aug. 13, that its home stadium, Bron Bacevich Memorial Stadium, needs to have its turf replaced and will be closed for at least the next two months.
A press release from the administration said that after the storms, a storm sewer beneath the stadium overflowed, contaminating the field. The school decided to replace the turf out of an abundance of caution, and that their goal is to have The Motz Group replace it in time for Roger Bacon’s homecoming football game on Friday, Oct. 9.

games at Bacevich Stadium as well as its boys and girls soccer games. St. Bernard-Elmwood Place also has its home football games there. Its girls soccer team plays at Ross Park.
Roger Bacon football was set to host Indian Hill in the season opener Aug. 21, then host McNicholas Oct. 11 and Harvest Prep (Ohio) Oct. 25 before hosting Southport (Indiana) for Homecoming on Oct. 9.
The school has 13 home soccer dates combining both programs before Oct. 9.
St. Bernard has five home football games scheduled at Bacevich, including Finneytown on Aug. 28, Dayton Dunbar on Sept. 12 and Gamble Montessori on Oct. 2.
