A new Wawa is coming to Covington. It will be the convenience store chain's second store in Northern Kentucky and its 13th in Greater Cincinnati.

Where is the new Wawa?
A Wawa spokesperson told The Enquirer the convenience store chain is "working through the permitting and approval process" for the site of a former Walgreens at 4299 Winston Ave. However, the spokesperson said it's too early in the process to share more specifics on the location.
"We are thrilled to be expanding in Kentucky and are actively looking for and working on sites in the market," the spokesperson said in an email.
A subsidiary of Tennessee-based real estate company Hutton purchased the land for $2.1 million in June, according to the Kenton County auditor's office property search. Permit review
documents obtained by LINK nky show that the location will have gas pump stations and 12 electric-vehicle parking spaces.
It's unclear when the new location will open. As of July 27, the Covington location is not included on Wawa's lists of upcoming locations or grand openings.
Chain growing in Cincinnati area
Wawa has over 1,200 locations across the country, with a major expansion in the Cincinnati area in recent years.
The Covington location will be the second Wawa in Northern Kentucky. A location opened in Hebron in February.
Including Hebron, there are 12 other Wawas across Greater Cincinnati. The Pennsylvania-based gas station chain opened its first location in the area in Liberty Township in April 2025. The Enquirer reported in 2023 that Wawa planned to open 60 stores across Ohio in the next decade.
