ESPN's "Monday Night Football" pregame coverage crew interviewed Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula, a former Miami RedHawks linebacker whose father, Dave, is a former Cincinnati Bengals head coach, before his team's Week 2 game against the New York Giants.
Shula, Rams head coach Sean McVay's Miami University teammate from 2004 to 2007, met pregame with New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh, who graduated from Miami in 1984 and spoke at the university's commencement in March.
"He's a Miami of Ohio guy, so me and Sean obviously have a history going back," Shula said during the broadcast. "He's a guy that we always kind of looked up to. He's got a statue in the Cradle of Coaches. We talked about the trip to Australia and just
kinda caught up, and told him how much we looked up to him. Always a guy we've always looked up to from afar."
Jason Kelce joked that he didn't want to hear about Miami, after UC's scare over the weekend against the RedHawks at TQL Stadium.
Scott Van Pelt joked that Shula should be penalized for bringing up the Victory Bell, which didn't make much sense considering the Bearcats won.
