The Cincinnati Enquirer once again is offering a new weekly feature recognizing the accomplishments of cheerleaders, dance team members and their squads: The Spirit Award.
Much like the popular athlete of the week voting,
school fans and friends voted on two weekly ballots (individual and team) for The Spirit Award. Only coaches can provide nominations each week, either for their squads or other teams.Eligible are varsity girls and boys cheerleaders and dancers who exemplify the fruits of the spirit ‒ love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control – while uplifting their squads, the student body and others. Team nominations focus on squads that come together to help each other, work hard, do things
right that week, show outstanding virtues when dealing with or serving others, exceed expectations to prepare something special for the school or take part in any other honorable reason they might be acknowledged.
This week's Spirit Award winners are:
Keera Roberts, Western Brown
Keera is a senior at Western Brown and a natural tumbler with beautiful technique! She earned 1st place in the Tumble Off at the Brown County Fair Competition and 3rd place at the Highland County Competition. Keera works hard outside of practice through private lessons and college clinics and is always encouraging her teammates to learn and throw new skills. She hopes to cheer in college, and any program would be lucky to have her!
Edgewood High School Cheerleaders
The Edgewood High School Cheerleaders are more than a team — they are dedicated athletes, leaders, and proud representatives of their school and community. They have worked tirelessly since summer workouts to prepare for the season, earning a Superior rating at UCA summer cheer camp through their hard work and teamwork. This season, they have brought incredible energy to every football game and most recently helped cheer the Edgewood Cougars to a huge victory this past Friday night against Ross. Beyond the sidelines, these cheerleaders give back to their community by volunteering numerous hours with the youth cheerleading program and at local elementary school events, serving as positive role models for younger students. They also excel in the classroom, maintaining high GPAs while participating in numerous clubs and extracurricular activities. The team recently represented Edgewood at the Dunkin' Grand Opening in Trenton and helped organize the first Edgewood Alumni Cheer Night, celebrating the tradition and history of the program. The Edgewood Cheerleaders truly embody school spirit through their dedication, leadership, academics, community service, and support of others. They are an outstanding representation of Edgewood High School and are very deserving of being named the Cincinnati Enquirer Spirit Team of the Week!
