A Campbell County police captain who has spent years serving on Northern Kentucky's regional SWAT team is stepping into a larger leadership role.
Capt. Christopher J. Lauer II of the Campbell County Police Department has been appointed assistant commander of the Northern Kentucky SWAT Team, according to a community announcement. The Northern Kentucky SWAT Executive Board announced the selection during a special meeting that also named Independence Police Capt. Michael D. Brock as commander of the regional team.
Campbell County Sheriff and NKY SWAT Chief Executive Officer Mike Jansen said Lauer's experience and leadership made him a clear choice for the position.
“Capt. Chris Lauer’s dedication, experience, and proven leadership with the Northern
Kentucky SWAT Team made selecting him as assistant SWAT commander an easy decision,” Jansen said.
Campbell County Police Chief Craig Sorrell praised Lauer's background in law enforcement, his years of service on the SWAT team and his military experience.
As assistant commander, Lauer will help lead the regional SWAT team and support its training, preparedness and operations across Northern Kentucky communities.
