Want to ride the roller coasters or take in your favorite attractions after dark at Kings Island but not be bothered by the spooky stuff during Halloween Haunt? Six Flags has you covered.
Halloween Haunt opened Friday, Sept. 25, bringing two iconic horror franchises with it.
Kings Island is the only Midwest park and one of three in the Six Flags chain to get Jason Voorhees from "Friday the 13th" in "Jason: Blood Reign." And returning this year is "The Conjuring: Beyond Fear," based on New Line Cinema's "The Conjuring Universe."
But if you or your kids want to avoid the scares and just enjoy the park, here's what you can do.
How scary is Halloween Haunt for younger children?
In the Cincinnati and Kings Island subreddits, a user asked on Sept. 23 how scary Halloween Haunt was for a 9-year-old. That
user has season passes, and their child wants to ride coasters and other amusements after dark but not do any of the Halloween Haunt attractions.
Kings Island states that Halloween Haunt isn't recommended for children under the age of 13. But those commenting on the thread provided another solution.
'No Boo Necklaces' stop the scares at Six Flags parks during Halloween festivities
Six Flags parks sell "No Boo Necklaces" to let the scare actors know who to leave alone. The necklaces, either a light-up skull or spider on a lanyard that reads "no boo," are available for $18.99 at most merchandise locations, according to the Halloween Haunt brochure for 2026. However, they are not valid in haunted mazes.
One Reddit user commented that they took their 6-year-old to Halloween Haunt with a No Boo Necklace and it was a great experience. "When actors saw it they acted scared, it was a cool memory."
What's the recommended age limit for children at Halloween Haunt? Who should avoid the event?
The Halloween Haunt brochure states the event may be too intense for young children. The park recommends children be 13 or older.
Haunted attractions are also not recommended for guests with pacemakers, claustrophobia, heart conditions, seizures, asthma or any condition that could be aggravated by the special lighting, artificial fog, haze or theatrical makeup used during the event.
When does Halloween Haunt start at Kings Island?
Halloween Haunt began Friday, Sept. 25 and runs on select days through Oct. 31.
How much are tickets to Kings Island Halloween Haunt?
A daily ticket to Kings Island starts at $45 online, and includes fall events on select dates.
But to get access to the haunted mazes, you need a Halloween Haunt bundle, which starts at $64 and also includes admission to the park.
Daily haunted attractions passes start at $15 with an all season haunted attraction pass starting at $29.
Tricks and Treats returning for the youngsters on weekends starting Sept. 27
Tricks and Treats at Kings Island brings an "all fun, no fear" family-friendly daytime Halloween celebration to Kings Island.
The "finest Halloween attire" is encouraged for the costume contest, where kids and their parents can compete for prizes. Youngsters can also follow the Trick-or Treat Trail, collecting candy from festival characters throughout the event. And the Mask Makers Mash allows children to express their creativity in designing their own mask.
Tricks and Treats is included with the $45 (online price) daily ticket to the park.
