The Ohio High School Athletic Association has ruled Elder senior wide receiver Andrey Lyman ineligible for the remainder of the 2026 season, reports Enquirer media partner FOX19's Joe Danneman.
A transfer from Kings High School, Lyman immediately made an impact with the Panthers, catching seven passes for 145 yards and four touchdowns in a Week 1 win. In four games this season (he missed Elder's week 4 game), he had 23 receptions for 390 yards and eight touchdowns. He is committed to Ball State University.
"There's been dozens of transfers this year. Has anybody else had the state looking into it like they looked into this? If we recruited him, okay fine. That's wrong. If he didn't meet the requirements, that's fine. But that's not the case in this situation,"
Elder head coach Doug Ramsey said in an interview with Tom Gamble and Brady Laber of the Crosstown Showdown.
Upon receiving notice of Lyman's ineligibility, Elder appealed the ruling but it was denied. The Lymans have the option to seek legal action to overturn the ruling, Danneman reports.
