The outlook for the Cincinnati Bengals' wide receiver room remained a looming question.
At the start of the week, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor had three receivers at his disposal following injuries to star receiver duo Ja'Marr Chase (concussion protocol) and Tee Higgins (groin/adductor) in the Oct. 4 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
By Wednesday, Oct. 7, the respective statuses of Chase and Higgins had been updated: Chase was still in concussion protocol, Taylor said during his regularly scheduled news conference. Higgins was set to be a limited participant in that day's afternoon practice session.

Limited participation for Higgins would seem to be an improvement from his last action in the Jaguars loss as he wasn't on the field for the game-deciding
Bengals drive that ultimately fell short in the 22-17 defeat. Still, limited participation is no guarantee of playing in the Oct. 11 game against the Miami Dolphins.
Chase and Higgins aren't the only injured Bengals receivers. Andrei Iosivas (torn thumb ligament) is out at least a month after getting hurt on a special teams play Sept. 20 at Houston. Colbie Young (left knee) was injured on the first play of the Bengals game at Pittsburgh on Sept. 27, leaving the Cincinnati's definite wide receiver options as Dohnte Meyers, Mitch Tinsley and Ke'Shawn Williams.
Meyers has impressed since training camp and has seen his share of the offense grow in each of the last two games. Mitch Tinsley was cut by the Bengals after training camp and landed with the Houston Texans practice squad, but was brought back to Cincinnati in the days leading up to the Oct. 4 game against Jacksonville.
Against the Jaguars, Tinsley looked like he hadn't briefly departed the organization as he was targeted seven times by quarterback Joe Burrow. He made three catches for 49 yards, and factored significantly in the final drive of the game as Cincinnati pushed for the comeback win.
Ke'Shawn Williams was released by Cincinnati after a critical muffed punt in the Sept. 27 loss to Pittsburgh, but was re-signed to the Bengals practice squad.
