NBC's Sunday Night Baseball broadcast of the Reds-Cubs series finale in Chicago, which included analyst Joey Votto, included a brief discussion during the fourth inning of the game about football season approaching, and Reds analyst Jeff Brantley was ready with a joke right down Broadway.
"You know there are fantasy (football) drafts in clubhouses all across Major League Baseball right now," NBC play-by-play announcer Jason Benetti said.
"If you don't, ask Tommy Pham," Brantley joked.
Pham, the former Red who recently traded barbs on social media with Reds outfielder Dane Myers, was best known by Cincinnati fans for his slap of then-Giants outfielder Joc Pederson before a game at Great American Ball Park over a disagreement about stashing a player
on IR in a fantasy football league.
"I watched that happen, by the way," Brantley said during Sunday night's broadcast. "I was sitting in the booth when Joc Pederson jogged out. I thought, 'Oh, he's gonna go over to say hi.' No. Whacked right in the head! Oh man!"
