Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz is one feat away from joining an exclusive club and making franchise history.
De La Cruz hit his 30th home run of the season off former Reds pitcher Tyler Mahle on Sept. 24 during a 7-6 win over the Atlanta Braves and now sits one stolen base away from joining the 30-30 Club – 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases in a single season.
De La Cruz would be the fourth member to join the 30-30 Club, but would be the only player in franchise history to do it as a switch hitter.
After the Reds took two of three from the Braves, De La Cruz heads into the final series of the season and three games against the Toronto Blue Jays to accomplish the feat. The Reds and Blue Jays are scheduled to play at 7:07 p.m. on Sept.
