Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor was asked during his Oct. 26 press conference how quarterback Joe Burrow is able to be so accurate.
Burrow had 292 passing yards and four touchdowns during a Week 7 rout of the Ravens in Baltimore and was nominated for FedEx Air & Ground Player of the Week. He completed 22 of 30 passes against the Ravens.
For the season, Burrow has completed 71.7% of his pass attempts and has completed more than 70% in five of six games.
"I don't know," Taylor replied. "He works really hard at it. I say 'I don't know' jokingly. The parts to me that, having been around quarterbacks my entire life and that kind of being a big part of my football career. Watching how he works in practice between reps, watching how he works in pre-practice,
watching how he throws in pregame."
"Watching his body movements and how important that is, watching him in routes on air put himself in different body positions that normally you take a three-step drop, you hit, you throw. He doesn't really do that. He works on moving in the pocket and awkward body throws. He works on how his body feels and the weight distribution he's got. And just, it's really impressive. I've never been around that detailed of a guy. It's not just a rep in practice or in the game."
"It's all the things around those reps that he does to prepare himself," Taylor added. "He could probably articulate it 1,000 times better than I can. I'm just observing what I see from him. I don't talk to him about it that much. It's just, I've just, from a distance, always sat there and watched him in all sorts of areas and tried to prove my own quarterback knowledge because it's really impressive watching how he goes about putting himself in a position to make the plays he does and be as accurate as he is, because he's the most accurate in the world."
"He is the most accurate," Taylor concluded. "He's really impressive. Kind of makes you want to throw down every snap, but we're not going to."
With the victory, Taylor passed Bengals founder and Hall of Fame coach Paul Brown, the father of team president and owner Mike Brown, in regular-season wins.
