Publix announced it's hiring 280 people for two new stores in Florence and Independence.
That begs the question: When will the new pub-sub-famous Northern Kentucky stores open?
Publix hasn't announced those dates yet. But our best, most educated guess is mid-October.
The Florida-based grocery store usually has about a two-month gap between when it hosts hiring events and when a new store opens.
For instance, Publix announced it was hiring for its location at the Triple Crown Shopping Center on Jan. 9, 2025. It opened its doors to the first Publix in Northern Kentucky on March 26, 2025.
At its second location in the area – Cold Spring Pointe – the grocery store announced a hiring event slated for April 24. The store opened June 17.
Stores 3 and 4 for Publix
The two stores will
be the third and fourth for Publix in Northern Kentucky.
The 55,325-square-foot store in Florence will be at the Farmview Commons, located at 8740 U.S. Highway 42. It will include a drive-thru pharmacy and adjacent Publix Liquors that will sell beer, wine and spirits.
The Enquirer previously reported on conceptual plans for the 11.8-acre development.
The store in Independence will be at 5135 Jenkins Dr. almost directly across from a Kroger Marketplace.
That 48,387-square-foot store is part of a Publix-anchored development on roughly 20 acres in central Kenton County. A 3,200-square-foot Publix Liquors store is also part of the plan.
When are the hiring events?
With Publix's move into Kentucky, the popular grocery store chain now has roots in seven states.
It's the largest employee-owned company in the United States, according to its website. It's also one of the 10 largest-volume supermarket chains in the country.
Last year, its retail sales hit $62.7 billion.
