United Airlineswill launch new daily nonstop service between Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport and San Francisco on Oct. 25.
State and regional leaders said the connection is expected to support economic development efforts and improve access to domestic and international markets.
“This new, direct flight from CVG to San Francisco will help us welcome even more business and travelers to Our New Kentucky Home,'' Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said in a press release. "This was a great investment in our state and our future.''
The new route received support from the JobsOhio Air Service Restoration program, which uses public-private partnerships and revenue-guarantee incentives to help Ohio airports retain and expand commercial air service.
The service marks the latest addition to CVG's network as the airport continues efforts to expand nonstop destinations available to travelers in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky region.
United will use a B737-800 aircraft, with 166 seats, including 16 for first class.
