Hamilton's West Side Little League team is back in the Great Lakes Region Tournament, beginning play on Aug. 8 looking for a trip back to the Little League World Series.
The young all-stars of Hamilton won the team's 23rd state championship last month, going 4-0 win the state tournament. Hamilton beat Ironton 13-1 to start the tournament before topping Olentangy 16-0, Canfield 6-5 and then Canfield again 4-3 in the final contest.
Hamilton meets the Michigan state champion at 10 a.m. on Aug. 8 in the first contest of the regional tournament. The winner advances to play Indiana at 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 9. The loser drops to the elimination bracket, playing either Illinois or Kentucky at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 9. Each of those games will be streamed on ESPN+.
The regional championship game will be aired on ESPN2 at 7 p.m. on Aug. 12. The winner advances to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa. The winner of the Great Lakes Region will begin its World Series on Aug. 20 against the Mountain Region winner.
Hamilton last appeared in the Little League World Series in 2021, reaching the championship game where they fell to the team from Michigan 5-2. There was no international representation that year with COVID-19 travel restrictions.
