Former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning is signing with the Los Angeles Chargers, according to a report via Twitter/X from Tom Pelissero.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released Browning in late August. In March, the Bucs signed Browning, who became a free agent after the 2025 season.
Browning played in 17 games, making 10 starts, over the past three seasons with the Bengals.
The Bengals and Chargers are not scheduled to meet during the 2026 regular season.
Chargers starting QB Justin Herbert has struggled this season, with 937 passing yards, five touchdowns and seven interceptions in the team's first five games, all losses.
Herbert's backup is DJ Uiagalelei. Trey Lance was placed on injured reserve with a groin injury.
In Oct. 2025, Browning
acknowledged he was "pissed" about getting benched for Joe Flacco, but added that he would handle the adversity "the right way" as the team started Flacco in Week 6 against Green Bay.
