Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja'Marr Chase told reporters Sept. 10 he wants fans to have something to yell when he makes a play, along the same lines as the "TEEEEEEEE!" they scream when teammate Tee Higgins does.
Chase said "BLURRRRRRRR" is what they should yell, going forward.
"I just think it's better than like 'Uno,' " Chase said. "And I think it's like more a known thing."
Was Blur a nickname for Chase at some point?
"No, no, no," Chase replied. "It's not a nickname. It's not (anything) referring to me. It's just like something – I feel like if the whole stadium (is) doing that, then it's gonna give some people chills. You know what I'm saying? It's gonna bring some excitement. And that's not something that we do usually, you know what I'm saying?"
"So just imagine a deep pass or a contested catch, and the whole stadium just yelling that out," Chase continued. "I think that'd be cool."
Higgins was asked whether he thinks "BLURRRRR" will catch on.
"I think it will, eventually," Higgins told reporters. "I think the first game … I think half the crowd might do it. Hopefully the whole crowd (will) do it. That would be dope. … It'll catch on for sure. … The whole crowd going, 'BLURRRRR!' That'll be crazy, now that I think about it! That's gonna be fire, bro! I can't wait. I hope it'll happen."
Chase and Higgins were full participants in practice ahead of their Week 1 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
