Rumpke workers found a body at the waste company's Cincinnati recycling facility, according to a statement.
The body was discovered in the incoming material at around noon Sept. 25 at the facility in St. Bernard.
Rumpke said the operation was immediately shut down and they notified local authorities.
St. Bernard and Elmwood Place police departments responded and are currently working with the Rumpke team to investigate, the release said.
The recycling facility has a large tipping floor where workers have stored the rest of today's recycling material, and Rumpke Spokesperson Molly Yeager Browadwater said the investigation has not impacted service. Rumpke's operations will continue once police have completed their on-scene investigation.
