Pittsburgh Steelers receiver DK Metcalf exchanged words with Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence II during the second quarter of the team's NFL Week 3 game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Acrisure Stadium.
Metcalf, who entered the game as the Steelers' second-leading receiver this season, yelled at Lawrence after a skirmish between the teams that started with a shoving match between Lawrence and Steelers center Zach Frazier.
"Feels like it wouldn't be a Steelers-Bengals game without something like this," CBS analyst Ross Tucker said during the broadcast.
"Yeah, it's just part of the history," play-by-play announcer Ian Eagle said.
"Frazier hit Lawrence right in the face to try to draw the penalty," Tucker said. "Lawrence didn't
take too kindly to it, so he went right back and hit Frazier."
Metcalf is in his eighth NFL season, second with the Steelers. Drafted by Seattle in 2019, he played his first six seasons for the Seahawks.
Metcalf played for Seattle in 2023 when he was penalized for a cheap-shot shove of then-Bengals defensive back Cam Taylor-Britt.
Metcalf had four catches for 89 yards against the Bengals in his first NFL game, in 2019.
