Houston Texans running back David Montgomery was stuffed on fourth-and-inches by Dexter Lawrence and the Cincinnati Bengals' defense during the second quarter of the team's NFL Week 2 game at Reliant Stadium.
"And they stop him, what a play!" CBS play-by-play broadcaster Kevin Harlan said. "Dexter Lawrence was there! Carter was there! What a play for Al Golden's D! Lawrence blew it up and Montgomery could not carve the necessary yards. The defense holds! The Bengals get it back. Big defensive play."
Montgomery, a former Mount Healthy High School standout, was acquired by the Texans in March 2026 from the Detroit Lions. He played three seasons for Detroit after playing his first four seasons for the Chicago Bears.
In 2025, Montgomery had a passing
touchdown and a rushing touchdown in Detroit's NFL Week 5 win against the Bengals at Paycor Stadium.
But Montgomery's huge effort in his Cincinnati homecoming was especially significant because his sister, Kiki, who was paralyzed in a 2024 car accident, was watching in person for the first time since she was injured.
