I wish that your article headlined "Ad blames Acton for isolating a mother during pandemic" had included the adverb "falsely." The article details how Vivek Ramaswamy’s ad is deceitful. While we have come to expect political ads to be exaggerations and deceptions, this ad goes too far.
In the ad, Linda Caudill claims that Amy Acton is to blame for not being able to see her dying mother in a nursing home during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Enquirer article, however, finds that Caudill’s mother lived in Kentucky, not Ohio. Her mother died months after COVID restrictions in Ohio were lifted. Gov. Mike DeWine has spoken out against Ramaswamy’s claims about COVID restrictions, saying that he, not Acton, was responsible for COVID closure decisions.

Caudill’s assertions that she can never forgive Acton may be true, but not for the reason she claims. As a Trump delegate, Caudill is unlikely to ever support Acton. But her attempt to pull on our heartstrings by depicting Acton as a heartless villain is pure deceit.
