Roads and sidewalks near JD Vance's East Walnut Hills home will be closed this weekend, causing detours through a Saturday half marathon, Cincinnati officials said.
Starting on the morning of Friday, Oct. 9, through the afternoon of Monday, Oct. 12, the following road and sidewalk closures will be in place:
- William Howard Taft Road between 1905 William Howard Taft Road and East McMillan Street.
- Collins Avenue between William Howard Taft Road and the underside of the U.S. Route 50/Columbia Parkway overpass.
- Taft Road Lane and Heatherhill Lane.
- Westbound Riverside Drive between Leblond Recreation Center and Collins Avenue (due to ongoing construction).
Drivers can use Torrence Parkway, Madison Road and Woodburn Avenue as a detour while the closures are in place. Drivers detouring on Saturday, Oct. 10 will be directed to cross between groups of runners participating in the Queen Bee half marathon.
Residents who live within the area where roads are closed will be able to access their neighborhood through one of three marked security checkpoints. Residents should expect to encounter law enforcement
at these checkpoints:
- William Howard Taft Road and Torrence Parkway.
- William Howard Taft Road and East McMillan Street.
- Pedestrian entry only: Collins Avenue and Gladstone Avenue.
It is unclear whether the vice president will be in town this weekend. The Secret Service declined to answer whether he would be present. An email to Vance's White House office wasn't answered in time of publication.
