Colerain High School will be closed Monday, Oct. 12, to provide students and staff time to mourn the loss of a beloved teacher, coach and dean.
Jeff Woltz, the school's dean of students, has died following a heart attack, according to a Colerain High School Facebook post Oct. 11.
Woltz has been a member of the Colerain High School community since 2008, the statement said. He started as a physical education and health teacher and served as an assistant football coach before his final role as a dean. He was also a KISR liaison, supporting students in foster care.
Woltz's most recent sports endeavor was being the varsity football offensive line coach for St. Xavier High School, according to its website.
"Throughout his time at Colerain, Mr. Woltz dedicated
himself to supporting students, building relationships, and positively impacting the lives of everyone around him," the Facebook post said. "His loss will be deeply felt by our students, staff, families, and the entire Colerain community."
While the school is closed Oct. 12, the post said counseling services for students and staff will be available at Colerain High School that day between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
"We encourage families to speak to their children about this loss and to reach out if their child needs additional support," the post added.
