Cincinnati Bengals fans exhaled after star receiver Ja'Marr Chase walked off the field under his own power following an apparent injury during the team's training camp practice outside Paycor Stadium.
Chase landed awkwardly on his left leg after running a deep route in pursuit of a pass from quarterback Joe Burrow.
Minutes later, Chase was walking without assistance, while stretching out his leg.
Chase has played in 78 games over his first five seasons with the Bengals.
In December 2025, Chase became a 1,000-yard receiver for the fifth time in five NFL seasons, becoming the fifth player in NFL history with at least 1,000 yards in each of his first five seasons, joining Randy Moss, Mike Evans, former Bengals receiver A.J. Green and Justin Jefferson,
Chase's former LSU teammate.
Chase, named a Pro Bowler in each of his first five seasons, won the receiving triple crown in 2024. It was the first in Bengals' history.
Last season, the Bengals played their Week 12 game against the New England Patriots without Chase, who was suspended for one game for spitting on Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey during their altercation in Pittsburgh's 34-12 Week 11 win.
Chase appealed the suspension, which was upheld. Chase denied spitting on Ramsey, but Ramsey said Chase spit on him before Ramsey was ejected, and video of the incident supported Ramsey's claim.
In Week 7 against the Steelers, Chase broke his own team record for receptions in a game with 16. He finished with 161 receiving yards and a touchdown.
In March 2025, Chase signed a four-year contract extension with Cincinnati worth $161 million.
