Wayne Huff has stepped down as head coach of the Boone County High School baseball team after 18 years.

Huff’s teams won 253 games, highlighted by the 2010 season when the Rebels reached the state tournament after winning the Ninth Region and 33rd District championships. He was inducted into the Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in January 2025.

In a press release, the school said that Huff “evolved and adjusted to meet the needs of his players and program. He drew upon an exceptional knowledge of baseball skills, from the fundamental to the advanced, and used that knowledge to develop players of all skill levels.”

At least 30 of his players played college baseball, while three were drafted into the major leagues: Cory

Farris (2008), Jackson Laumann (2011) and Trey Ganns (2017).
