About 130,000 Duke Energy customers are without power the morning after storms slammed the region with high winds, bringing down trees and power lines.
The number of customers without power early Wednesday, Aug. 12, is down from a peak more than 180,000 the evening before.

The majority of the outages are in Southwest Ohio. About 21,000 Northern Kentucky customers are without power.
Hamilton County had the highest number of outages with about 66,000 customers without power
Wednesday. Clermont. High numbers were also reported for Clermont and Kenton counties.
The Duke Energy website doesn't specify any estimated time of restoration.
"Crews have restored power to thousands of customers, but fallen trees, broken poles and damaged equipment continue to slow restoration efforts," Duke officials said in a statement posted after 10 p.m. Aug. 11.
Storms and rain Tuesday night into early Wednesday have the potential to cause more outages and slow restoration efforts, according to Duke Energy.
Duke Energy serves about 765,000 electric customers in Ohio and 155,000 in Kentucky.
