Vice President JD Vance will visit his Ohio hometown this week.
The Cincinnati resident will speak at the Cleveland-Cliffs steel plant in Middletown, Ohio, on Aug. 21, a member of Vance's team confirmed to The Enquirer. He'll be joined by Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Ohio officials.
Vance's appearance is scheduled just days after U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy James P. Danly, U.S. Senators Bernie Moreno and Jon Husted and others are scheduled to deliver remarks at the steel plant on Aug. 19.

Vance wrote about the impact Cleveland-Cliffs, then called Armco Steel, had on his family and childhood in his 2016 memoir, "Hillbilly Elegy." His grandfather, like many Middletown residents, worked at the steel mill. It was the Middletown's largest employer
by the 1950s but the company, and the city, struggled amid a declining national steel industry in the 1980s.
