A month after announcing a group of layoffs affecting more than 1,400 jobs, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services issued WARN notices from employers in August 2026, with five companies indicating they are planning layoffs or closures.
The August WARN notices affect more than 850 workers in Ohio.

Vertical farming startup 80 Acres Farms in Cincinnati filed for bankruptcy, forcing the company to shut down operations and lay off 145 local workers by Aug. 17, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification.
Here is the full list of Ohio's August 2026 WARN notices with the number of affected workers who may be laid off:
- 80 Acres Urban Agriculture, Inc. a vertical farming startup, in Hamilton (145 workers)
- Sodexo CTM, LLC, a healthcare technology management service, in West Chester (66 workers)
- SDH Services West, LLC a healthcare and senior living service under Sodexo, in Cincinnati (488 workers)
- Insteel Wire Products Company, a manufacturer of steel wire, in Upper Sandusky (65 workers)
- Cornerstone Building Brands, a manufacturer of exterior building solutions, in Walbridge (104 workers)
What is a WARN notice?
A WARN notice, also known as the "Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification," gives workers advance notice at least
60 days before their layoff date, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
WARN notices are required when the employer has 100 or more full-time employees, the layoffs will last more than six months and they affect at least 50 full-time employees.
