The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are releasing former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning, according to multiple reports.

Browning played in 17 games, making 10 starts, over the past three seasons with the Bengals.

Undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels appears to have won the job as Baker Mayfield's backup in Tampa.

The Bengals are scheduled to host the Bucs at Paycor Stadium in their regular-season opener.

In March, the Bucs signed Browning, who became a free agent after the 2025 season.

In Oct. 2025, Browning acknowledged he was "pissed" about getting benched for Joe Flacco, but added that he would handle the adversity "the right way" as the team started Flacco in NFL Week 6 against the Green Bay Packers.
