Five people are hospitalized after a driver lost control and struck a Metro bus stop, according to Springdale Police Chief Tom Butler.
While driving northbound on Springfield Pike around 6:20 a.m. Aug. 12, a woman hydroplaned and lost control of her car, Butler said. Five people were seated at the bus stop on their way to work. The woman, driving a four-door Hyundai sedan, struck the bus stop, injuring all five people, he said.
Springdale and Forest Park firefighters responded to the crash, Butler said. All five people were taken to the hospital, some with serious injuries. None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
Butler said the crash was a combination of the bad weather and the woman's car having bald tires.
Impairment or speeding
were not factors in the crash, he said.
The woman remained on scene and was interviewed by police.
