If you've been waiting for the day Rhinegeist Brewery offers some totally tubular food in its taproom, the wait is nearly over.
Ben Castle, Rhinegeist's vice president of hospitality and finance, said Pizza Time, a standalone '80s-themed pizza parlor inside the Over-the-Rhine brewery, will open soon on a TBA date. But we got a sneak peek/taste of the menu at an invite-only happy hour Thursday evening. (The brewery initially targeted Oct. 1 as its grand opening.)
The 450-square-foot in-house pizza parlor replaced the brewery's Mac's Pizza Pub vending machine and is fully tailored to the taproom. If you're a fan of the '80s and all things retro, you'll love Pizza Time, which sits near arcade games, uses classic red pizza cups and even named a few
pizzas after shows like "Saved by the Bell" and "Full House."
In fact, the pizzeria even gives a nod to a fan-favorite Netflix show.
Tracey Ireland, vice president of marketing for Rhinegeist, said the final season of "Stranger Things" had just come out when Rhinegeist's Pizza Time project began, inspiring the retro vibe.
New appetizers, pizzas and desserts coming to Rhinegeist
Pizza Time will serve New York-style specialty and classic pizzas, along with salads and sides. And the best part? The pizza will be cooked in the taproom. Take a look at the items below:
Appetizers
- Caesar salad: Romaine, parmesan, garlic croutons and zesty Caesar dressing. Chicken can be added for $4.
- Wedge: Iceberg lettuce, ranch, tomato, red onion, bacon, chives, and dill.
- Garlic knots, baked and tossed with garlic butter. Served with marinara, garlic butter, ranch, or chipotle ranch sauces.
- Cheesy bread: Garlic butter and mozzarella cheese.
Pizzas
- Cheese: Marinara, parmesan and mozzarella.
- Pepp: Marinara, mozzarella, cup and crisp pepperoni.
- Buffy: Olive oil, parmesan, mozzarella and lemon ricotta.
- Big Biff: Marinara, mozzarella, cup and crisp pepperoni, crumbled sausage and bacon.
- Veg-O-Matic: Marinara, mozzarella, cherry tomato, mushroom, red onion and green pepper.
- Full House: Marinara, mozzarella, cup and crisp pepperoni, sausage, bacon, mushroom, onion, cherry tomato and green pepper.
- Cherry Bomb: Olive oil, garlic, parmesan, mozzarella, cherry tomato, lemon ricotta, basil and balsamic glaze.
- Hidden Valley Girl: Olive oil, mozzarella, chicken, bacon, ranch, cherry tomato and green pepper.
- Saved by the Bell: Taco sauce, cheddar, chicken, cherry tomato, shredded lettuce, crunchy Fritos and chipotle ranch.
- Meatballs: Truth sauce, parmesan, mozzarella, sliced meatballs and basil.
- Hawaii Five-O: Marinara, mozzarella, parmesan, ham and pineapple.
Desserts
- Chocolate chip cookie.
- Chocolate cannoli: A pair of sweet ricotta cream and chocolate chip cannoli.
