Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Shemar Stewart was in uniform and going through team stretches and position drills at practice Sept. 2, a development The Enquirer's Kelsey Conway called "a very positive sign."

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor provided an update Sept. 1 on Stewart, who hyperextended his knee in July on the first day of training camp.

"Shemar (will) stay on the rehab field this week, and we'll just take him week to week," Taylor said Sept. 1.

Stewart wasn't wearing a brace, and he ran on the rehab field on Sept. 1.

Stewart, the Bengals' first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, played in eight games during his rookie season for Cincinnati. He suffered a knee injury in November 2025 and was placed on the Reserve/Injured list.
